Here's a new gathering of little stuffed pumpkins. One has lace trim, and one was made from burlap.
And not to worry -- Inspector Number One was napping, so Inspector Number Two took over:
I really like the lace one. More of those already on the cutting table!

Here's a sneak peek at what I am working on right now!
There are lots more plans in the works! I should have some of these pumpkins at Merchant Square for the Labor Day weekend sale. There will be some traditional orange ones, too. Several different sizes so you can build your holiday displays.

I just dropped these beauties off at CraftFusion in Chandler! These clock faces are a mixed media artist's dream! I also dropped off some great little wooden boxes, seed beads, vintage buttons, brass charms, wide orange twill tape (stampable!), tea-dyed seam binding and hand-dyed seam binding (more on that soon). And let me reassure you, my quality assurance team has inspected everything:

I still have some of the gorgeous pink Paris Cavallini paper. There's still one large section, but there are several small pieces left over from previous projects. I got the idea for this project from CraftFusion. They are offering a domino project class this weekend. In fact, I just delivered some dominoes to them to sell! But I've never done a domino project myself. So here is my first one:
I put some gel medium on the smooth side of two dominoes, attached the paper, trimmed the edges and then sanded the edges. I originally planned to "antique" them by inking the edges, but they look so pretty like this I might just leave them alone. I may seal the tops with more gel medium, but I like the texture of this paper, so I might not! I do think I will add some magnets to the back and put them on the refrigerator!

Chandler has a new Mixed Media Art store! CraftFusion is in the Mervyn’s Plaza on the southwest corner of Alma School and Elliot Roads, just a couple doors down from the fabulous fabric store, Zoe’s Trunk. The store is filling up with paper, inks, stamps, tools and lots of other temptations. I am happy to announce than Starshine Salon is providing vintage, new and handcrafted mixed media supplies for CraftFusion. I just delivered a box full of vintage greeting cards, reproduction Victorian die cuts, vintage sewing patterns, laces, trims, seam binding, taffeta and more!
There are old keys, brass washers, even dominoes for altering. Plus a few handcrafted blank fabric journals just waiting for your embellishments!
The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, except Thursdays, when it will be open until 9 p.m. If you are a paper artist, altered artist or mixed media artist, you will want to stop by and see for yourself. Or check out the website:www.craftfusionaz.com. The class schedule is online; paper copies are at the store.
New stock is being added constantly, and I will be delivering goodies every week or so. Hope to see you all there!

I've been making these mannequins for a few months now, and I still love them. But I have added something new! The first mannequins I made were from tea-dyed muslin, and they are still the most versatile. I have some pretty vintage linens with stains or other flaws, so I started using them to make aprons for the mannequins:
It's so nice to be able to use these vintage linens, and to have them on display. The possibilities are endless!

Posting this for the Bloggerette Sorority Recipe Blog Party. This is the best cake, and easy, too!
Bailey’s Irish Cream Cake
Mix well:
White cake mix (I like Duncan Hines)
1 small box vanilla instant pudding mix
4 large eggs
½ cup oil
1 ½ cups Bailey’s Irish Cream
½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
Pour into greased and floured Bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees F until a cake tester inserted halfway between pan walls comes out clean.
While the cake is still hot, mix together ¼ cup Bailey’s and a few tablespoons of powdered sugar. Pour that over the cake (this keeps the bottom of the cake moist).
When the cake is cool, turn it out of the pan and glaze with 1/3 cup Bailey’s mixed with enough powdered sugar to make a pourable glaze.

Posting this for French Inspiration Thursday at the French Cupboard. I love these vintage French patterns! I am going to give this one away:
This pattern was a supplement (either to a magazine or newspaper) on May 9, 1957. The paper is quite aged. Because of the way these were printed, all the pattern pieces are printed on the large piece of paper, overlapping each other so they would fit. This supplement also includes some stitchery patterns, and a squirrel pattern, which I think is meant for applique.

Rice Freeman-Zachery has posted a hilarious video from the Coloring Outside the Lines party at Art Unraveled last weekend. Instructors were asked to make art outside their normal genre with odd supplies in a short time frame. The pieces were auctioned off to provide scholarships for students at next year's retreat. Michael deMeng was the auctioneer. Rice was the emcee/heckler; she and husband Earl shot the video. My favorite was the completely-out-of-character creation of Thomas Ashman. I think it may be the first time he has ever used pink in his work.
