Here’s a sample of what you can do with the honeycomb tissue paper pads:
Here’s how I made it. First, I diecut a base from cardstock using the Tim Holtz Alterations Sewing Room die, using only the dressform portion. Then I diecut a piece of ivory honeycomb tissue paper pad, also using the dressform only. When you cut a shape out of the honeycomb tissue paper, you want to make sure the lines in the pad run horizontally (side to side). Because the dressform is on a diagonal on the die, I cut a strip just wide enough to cover the dressform outline and placed in on the die diagonally. Then I cut the tissue paper dressform shape in half. So really, if you don’t have a piece of honeycomb tissue paper pad wide enough to cover the entire shape you want to use, it’s okay. You only need half the width of your figure, because you’re going to open it up and glue it down. But this way I will be able to make two dressforms. I distressed the edges of the cardstock base and the tissue paper form with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I used Antique Linen, but you can use any color! You’ll want to distress the edges of the tissue paper before you open up the form, because it will be very fragile once it’s opened up. Then I glued one side of the tissue paper dressform onto the base. I used Elmer’s glue, because it was handy, and it worked fine. After a few minutes, I opened up the form and glued the other edge down. Then I had to trim one side of the base, because the dressform shape isn’t symmetrical but the tissue paper form is. You could also cut the cardstock base in half before you glue the form down, then attach it to a card or book so that it opens up when you open the card or book. Those are the basics. The details are really up to you, and the possibilities are endless!
I have the honeycomb tissue paper pads in my etsy shop in pink, white and ivory. I also have some at CraftFusion in Chandler, and I'll be taking some to Merchant Square in Chandler on Saturday (The Starshine Salon is on space 74). Happy creating!
