As promised, I got some more information about the silent auction at Merchant Square in Chandler. The auction is underway and will go on through the month of July. Sales will benefit the surviving member of a local family that experienced a terrible tragedy, and Merchant Square is not taking any of the proceeds.
The highest bid on each item at 5 p.m. on July 31st will win. The store normally closes at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, but will stay open a little later that day so that those present may pay for their winning bids. Those who do not pay for their items right then will be called and will have 72 hours to pay. Items not paid for within 72 hours will be offered to the next highest bidder. If you can’t get back to the store within 72 hours, you can call with a credit card number. All items must be picked up within a week of the end of the auction. You can only bid in person at the store. In order to bid, you will need to register. Basically, you give your contact information to the store so they can notify you if you win, and they give you a code number so you don’t have to use your name on the bid sheet. There will be a binder with a bid sheet for each item listing the starting bid and increments for bids. To bid, you’ll simply list your identification number and your bid on the appropriate sheet. You’ll be able to privately list a maximum bid for each item, as well. But you have to bid in person, as the store won’t be able to accept bids over the phone.
The items are all set up in the front of the store, and it is a wonderful collection. Merchant Square provided some photos for me to share:
I’ve seen the collection in person and I highly recommend you make a trip soon to check it out, too. There are some amazing antique toys, great furniture and lots of other interesting items. If you have any questions while you are there, ask any staff member and they will help you get an answer.
We expect the last day of the auction to be a little crazy, but I think it will be fun, so I hope to see you there!
Starshine Wishes,
Karen
