The small strip is just the right size to make the stripes for this card. For my base, I folded a piece of 8 ½ x 11 inch cardstock in half with the short ends meeting. Then I stamped my stripes on another piece of cardstock the same color. I used ColorBox Chalk Ink in Lipstick Red for the stripes. I like the unmounted stamps; I adhere them to acrylic blocks with double sided cellophane tape. The block I used for the stripes has little lines etched in to help with placement. That’s how I was able to space the stripes evenly. Once the stripes were stamped, I trimmed the cardstock with my paper cutter.
I used the large stamp from the Metal Madness plate for my star. I used ColorBox Chalk Ink in Blue Iris and stamped it onto the same color cardstock as my stripes. Then I diecut a star from the stamped image. I made this impression specifically for my star, but this is also a really good way to use stamping mistakes. If you are stamping a background stamp and don’t get a good image, you may be able to use a portion of it in another project!
I stamped my phrase in the Blue Iris, too, and trimmed it with the paper cutter.
Then I applied Distress Ink in Vintage Photo to the edges of all my pieces, using a cosmetic sponge.
Finally, I assembled my card with double sided tape. This card was really easy to make, and I love the texture that using these great Sin City Stamps added!
There's plenty of time for you to make this card before Independence Day! There's even time to make a few of them and put them together as a holiday banner!
The Starshine Salon at Merchant Square (space 74) is decked out for the Fourth of July. I just took in these handcrafted pillows, made from vintage red denim, vintage ticking and tea-dyed muslin:
Here's one to welcome your Independence Day guests:
There's a great vintage dress to wear to a picnic:
And lots of vintage aprons to wear while you flip the burgers or make the deviled eggs (or while you sit back, relax and sip something cold and refreshing):
This one is displayed on a Starshine Salon original design burlap and muslin mannequin, but it will look even better on you!
Starshine Salon is now at Merchant Square! You'll find vintage glassware, linens, aprons, ladies' gloves, handbags and hankies, as well as my new original design muslin and burlap mannequins. I also have some Americana handcrafts to help you get ready for Memorial Day and Independence Day. I had planned to post pictures, but computer issues prevented that, but I do promise pictures as soon as I solve the problem.
Merchant Square is a huge store with more than 100 vendors. There is something for everyone there! The address is 1509 N. Arizona Ave., Chandler, Arizona. It's on the east side of Arizona Ave. between Ray and Warner. The store is open every day from 9 to 5, and Wednesdays until 8. My space is #74, near the center back of the store, in the Small Wonders Section.
